Saving $100-150/week
Disney World vacation, and more!
Dear Teri,
When a friend mentioned the Grocery Game to me a few years ago, I was very excited to try it out. We regularly would spend around $300 in groceries each week and we needed to change our budget because we had twins getting ready to start kindergarten the following year and we wanted to send them to a local private school. We noticed a difference immediately in our grocery bill and regularly save $100-$150 each week in groceries. We set a goal to go to Disney world at the end of the first year of doing the Grocery Game and put back $25 of that savings each week for a full year and rewarded ourselves with a trip to the Magic Kingdom, which is a trip that our children will never forget. We also had a little over $5000 put aside for school and with our weekly savings we are able to send our children to a local Christian school where they are getting a wonderful education. However, I have realized the full beauty of the Grocery Game this week as we are stranded in our house due to the flooding in middle Tennessee. We have not been able to leave the house since 4 days ago and will likely not be able to leave for at least another 4 days. Because of the Grocery Game and all the extra food and supplies we get each week, we have plenty of food for ourselves and to share with our neighbors who have had flooding in their homes.
