Father’s Day is simple, fun, and cheap! Most Dads will be doing the grilling, and someone else will be making the sides and dessert!

The beef!

GET CHEAP STEAKS!!! NOW!!! Our “Dad” likes beef, steaks to be precise… This is the one thing that you can definitely get cheap right now! I just logged in to www.TheGroceryGame.com I checked off my 4 supermarkets in my zip code. Then, I did a word search “steak”. Up popped NY steaks half off at $4.97 a pound at Albertsons. Then I searched, “beef”, and see that Vons has the deal on ground beef. So now my choices are steak or beef… Hmmm… It’s Father’s Day, so I think I’ll spoil him with a NY steak!

JUICY Turkey burgers – For the healthier Dad…

The sides… I love “do-aheads”. I’m making all my sides tomorrow, so I can enjoy my day without cooking on Sunday!

The spuds! Every man HAS to have potatoes for his special meal! And a bag of potatoes is always cheap, so by and large, I make potatoes of some kind for almost every party! I haven’t decided which one I’ll do yet, but here’s two of my favorite do-aheads!

Twice Baked Potatoes – I KNOW Greg expects these, and they’re always a hit. Here’s a video I made for Valentine’s Day on how I do it. There IS a technique for easy scooping out of the potatoes!

Broccoli – I just checked databases nationwide, and broccoli is still on good sales. In some stores organic or crowns are actually cheaper, because they’re on sale. So be SURE to buy the BEST sales! Broccoli Salad – A complete do-ahead, and SO good!

Squash – Yellow and zucchini squash are great when cut in long slabs, and grilled on low heat with seasonings and brushed with olive oil. For color, I also grill red bell peppers, and some red onions. For a do-ahead, I love to grill a pile of these the day before and serve chilled, like a salad! Just do twice as many as you think you’ll need, as they cook down, and they go fast!

Corn on the cob – BBQ that corn in it’s husk without opening it until you’re ready to eat it! In this video, I explain why and how!

Shuck it! – No matter how you do your corn on the cob, here’s the BEST way to shuck it!
